1943 THE BEGINNINGS
Thorvald Pedersen founded the SAMSON company in Denmark, in reference to the superhuman strength of the biblical character. In the 1950s, the first trailers were produced, followed by the first spreaders. At the time, customers were mainly farmers, but as farms grew, agricultural contractors quickly became Samson’s main customers.
1964 THE FIRST SLURRY TANKERS
The first slurry tanker with a capacity of 3m3 was introduced to the market in 1964. At the end of the 1970s, the first unpressurised slurry tankers were manufactured. In 1983 SAMSON was the first manufacturer in the world to launch a spreader with vertical beaters.
1990s MARKET LEADER IN AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY
In the 1990s, Samson was the market leader in agricultural machinery, and the Glerup family, the current owners, bought SAMSON and three other companies, which in the 2000s formed SAMSON AGRO A/S. At the same time, a new 18,500 m² factory was built in Viborg.
TODAY AND IN THE FUTURE A MAJOR WORLD ACTOR
SAMSON AGRO launches its new PGII slurry tanker series in 2013, a more efficient range with optimised control systems. In 2019, the PICHON brand is acquired by the Group and SAMSON GROUP A/S acquires GØMA A/S to consolidate the company with SAMSON Agrolize. By the end of 2024, a new production building will be completed in Denmark.
